Katharine Slayton
Instructor in Training

  • BASI Pilates (Body Arts and Science International) Instructor in Training

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Katharine believes strongly in the powerful intersection between physical and emotional health. To her, movement truly is medicine.

Katharine's love for Pilates began during COVID, when movement became a lifeline and Pilates quickly became the one practice that made her body feel truly supported, strong, and at home. She has both taught and practiced various forms of exercise in the past as a group exercise instructor, but nothing had ever clicked for her in the way Pilates did. It has completely changed how she moves, how she breathes, and how she feels. Being able to share that feeling with others is a privilege.

With her background in clinical mental health, she approaches Pilates as more than a workout—it’s a way to connect with yourself, mind, body and spirit. Katharine believes you can’t separate mental health from physical health; they inform each other, shape each other, and thrive together. Her goal is to create a space where individuals can cultivate a sense of autonomy and safety within their own bodies, increasing emotional resilience and overall well-being.

Katharine is honored to be training through BASI and excited to bring a mind–body, whole-person approach to the practice, always leading with kindness, compassion and empathy along the way.
